Privacy-safe monitoring

Monitor the room without watching the guest.

StayControl gives hospitality and rental teams useful visibility into noise, occupancy context, smoke-related conditions, temperature and humidity - without cameras or room-audio recording.

Available to the operation

Operational signals

  • Sound level
  • Occupancy context
  • Smoke-related condition
  • Temperature
  • Humidity
Not part of StayControl monitoring

Surveillance data

  • Video or images
  • Room-audio recording
  • Conversation content
  • Speaker identity
  • Personal identification

Condition data for the operation. No video or room-audio record from StayControl monitoring.

A different kind of visibility

Operational context, without personal observation.

Guest rooms are private spaces, but operators still need to understand conditions that can affect a stay or a property. StayControl is designed around specific room signals rather than visual or conversational surveillance.

What StayControl can provide

Conditions the team can act on.

Sound-level readings, occupancy context, smoke-related conditions, temperature, humidity, timestamps and operational history can help a team decide when a room or property needs attention.

Records can include the relevant device or property reference and, in supported connected workflows, reservation context.

What its monitoring does not observe

The monitored signals do not identify the guest.

StayControl does not create video or room-audio recordings. It does not preserve conversation content, recognize a speaker or identify the guest from the monitored signals.

Occupancy remains an estimate, not an exact headcount or identity system.

Different inputs. Different privacy model.

Condition monitoring is not a quieter kind of camera.

A camera and a condition monitor answer different questions. The distinction begins with the information each system collects.

Camera / visual surveillance

Visual information about a space.

A camera captures visual information. Depending on its setup, that record may show people, movement, appearance or behavior and may include audio.

Footage creates its own questions about purpose, placement, access, storage and applicable requirements.

StayControl condition monitoring

Selected signals about the property.

StayControl measures selected property conditions. Its records describe signal values, time and operational context without showing the guest, recording the room or identifying a person from the monitoring itself.

No video or images. No room-audio recording. No conversation recording. No monitoring-derived personal identity.

StayControl is designed for condition awareness. It is not a replacement for every security or surveillance use case.

Useful context, without identity

Monitor the condition, not the person.

The same privacy design principle applies across the room signals StayControl monitors.

01Noise

Sound level, not conversation content.

StayControl measures decibels and configured noise context. It does not record what guests say or identify a speaker.

02Occupancy

An estimate, not an exact count.

Occupancy context can help a team recognize a situation that may need review. It does not identify who is present or promise an exact headcount.

03Smoke and vape

A room condition, not a camera view.

Smoke/vape-related monitoring can make a relevant condition visible to the operation without showing the room or identifying who caused it.

04Temperature and humidity

Environmental readings, not guest observation.

Temperature and relative humidity history describe how the room environment changes. They do not describe the person inside it.

Transparent by scope

Less intrusive does not mean data-free.

Useful monitoring needs a record. StayControl can retain monitored values, timestamps, configured incidents, device or property references, alerts and available response history. Supported connected workflows may also use reservation context.

The privacy distinction is specific: StayControl creates operational condition data without adding camera footage, room-audio recordings or identity derived from the monitoring itself.

An operational record can include
  • Monitored signal values
  • Timestamps and incidents
  • Device or property references
  • Configured alerts and available response history
  • Supported reservation context where available
Data handling

MasterMind explains what data is collected, why it is used and who can access it. It protects personal data with encryption and controlled access, does not sell it or use it for advertising, and enforces retention limits and deletion procedures.

Questions, answered

What privacy-safe monitoring means in practice.

Cameras, room-audio recording, identity, operational data and the separate scope of StayAssist.

Explore StayControl
Does StayControl use cameras?

No. StayControl monitors selected room and property conditions without cameras or video. It does not create images or footage of the guest space.

Does noise monitoring record conversations?

No. StayControl measures sound level in decibels. It does not record room audio, preserve conversation content or identify a speaker.

Can StayControl identify who is in the room?

No. StayControl's monitoring signals do not identify a guest or another person. Supported connected workflows may use reservation context, but that context is not monitoring-derived identity or live proof of who is present.

Does occupancy monitoring count people exactly?

No. Occupancy is an estimate built from available signals and context. It is not an exact headcount, camera system or person-identification tool.

Does privacy-safe monitoring mean no data is collected?

No. StayControl keeps the operational data needed to make monitoring useful, such as signal values, timestamps, configured incidents and relevant device or property context. The distinction is that it does not add video, room-audio recordings or identity derived from the monitoring itself.

Is this page also describing StayAssist calls?

No. This page describes StayControl room monitoring. StayAssist is a separate communication service. StayAssist calls may be recorded under that product's separate communication and data-handling scope.

Is StayControl a replacement for a security camera?

Not where visual verification is genuinely required. StayControl is designed for condition awareness and operational review without cameras. Security and surveillance needs should be assessed separately for the property and applicable requirements.
